Christopher DiBella, founding attorney of DiBella Law Injury and Accident Lawyers, is no stranger to higher education – or the costs of higher education. Chris was the first generation in his family to attend college, and he graduated from Boston University and Suffolk University Law School before practicing law. All the while, he worked hard—not only for his grades, but to pay for his schooling altogether!
Times are only getting more expensive, and that’s why Chris and his law firm decided to offer a $500 scholarship to one talented student from anywhere in the U.S. The money will go toward post-secondary education expenses, and to win it, applicants were asked to explain in an essay how going to college will help them achieve their future goals—and leave a mark on the world.
The deadline to apply was May 16, 2018; our legal team has had time to review the 918 applications. We are proud to name…
- Victoria Benitez – Hesperia, CA
- Hazell Boone – Lawrence, MA
- Cole Corbett– Salem, NH
- Alyssa Bigos – Dracut, MA
- Hodman Abshir – Boston, MA

…as our FIVE finalists! Please join us in celebrating them! These hard-working students not only impressed us with their well-written essays, but also with their genuine commitment to making their community a better place. We confidently expect each one will achieve his or her future goals, but unfortunately, we can pick only one winner…
Please visit our blog and Facebook page for the winner announcement on June 19, 2018. Best of luck to our finalists!
To all the students who applied, thank you for giving this application your time and effort. Many of you deserve a scholarship, and we wish we were the ones to give it to you. But we know that if you keep putting the effort into your education, you’ll have a very full life, and hopefully a successful one!
We leave you with the words of Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Never stop learning!
